Community project in Doncaster commissioned by ‘Right up our street’ to design and paint a mural for the Deaf Community Center in Balby Bridge.
Bringing some colour and life into the area and creating a beacon for the positive changes happening there.
I drew inspiration initially from the attendees who gave me suggestions that reflected the spirit in the center. I wanted to convey energy and joyful moments that would feel instantly celebratory and uplifting.
The design included the signs for ‘B’ ‘S’ ‘L’ (British sign language) along with the sign for ‘Fun & Laughter’.
Public Art in estates offers the residents potential for more talking points leading to better social cohesion. It can bring a sense of pride and identity to an area, enriching the everyday environment and hopefully inspiring the next generation.
