About

Hixxy is an artist & designer currently based between London and Dublin.

She is known for her large-scale murals, referred to as ‘Left Field Tutti-Fruity’ in appearance, her work embraces a nostalgic feel with a contemporary and surreal sensibility.

Jo’s been making and creating from an early age, going on to study Fine Art in Liverpool. At art school she experimented with all kinds of conceptual ideas and mediums, falling in love with the process of collage, painting and screenprint.

As ambition grew she needed larger screens and canvas, her brother Edd introduced her to street art and encouraged large scale painting. The transition from printing to painting was a logical natural development . Forward on some years, she has now collaborated with high-profile brands, institutions, independent businesses, and community groups. Producing a diverse portfolio of nationwide commercial work over the past 7 years.

“The journey of research and chance findings are really important to my practice”

Every project starts with collating imagery a bit like a magpie, I source references and archival imagery from a broad spectrum of resources; books, online archives and exhibitions. Cutting, drawing, editing and layering, generates new paths of interpretation to inform the final design”
Her unique visual style leaves audiences with space to form their own narratives, giving the artwork longevity and a feeling of timelessness.
